Good Things to Know
Structure of Augsburg Academy.
Augsburg Academy is divided into four schools. The Lower School is comprised of our two kindergarten
programs (4-year-old and 5-year-old), first and second grade. Grades Three through Five comprise the
Upper School. Middle School holds grades Six, Seven, and Eight. And, as you might expect, the High
School is for grades Nine through Twelve. Each school has a designated Lead Teacher who provides
oversight and administrative support. Learn more about our faculty here.
Augsburg Academy has a very limited administration, because we believe that the primary duty of the
Academy is to educate students, not push papers. The Head of Schools, who is also the pastor of
Augsburg Evangelical Church, serves as the sole administrator. He is assisted by the Lead Teachers of
each school. Long-term planning and oversight are provided by the Academy Board, a group of
dedicated volunteers who are assisted in their work by the Academy Advisors, who have been carefully
selected from the community to provide expertise in specific areas, including communication,
development, and financial management.
Where's the building?
For the 2009-2010 Augsburg Academy year, and until construction is complete on our first building,
the Academy is using a combination of rooms within The Gardens Ice House to house our academic
program. We have intentionally applied our resources to build a first-rate faculty and curriculum, and
then allocated our time and talents to construction. "Why?" you may ask. Well, quite simply, building
things is easy. Finding a quality staff, developing teamwork, and providing an excellent education takes
much more work.
What's Augsburg Academy's vision? This is an excellent question, and the answer is one to which
the Augsburg leadership has given a great deal of attention. A detailed vision document has been
prepared, and a copy is available online.
